Camp Information
Camp is held from 9:00am – 12:00pm for kids ages 3-5 (Pre-K or rising Kindergarteners) and 9:00am -3:00pm, including lunch, for kids that are rising 1st – 9th graders. Preschoolers are welcome to stay for lunch with a parent. Rising 10th through 12th graders may apply to serve as “CIT’s” (Counselors in Training), to assist with camp during the day and then participate in teen activities after camp.
Ages & Schedules:
- 3-5yr old campers (Pre-K) have camp from 9am-12:00pm. Preschoolers are welcome to stay for lunch with a paying parent (it’s fun, and the food is delicious!)
- Rising-Kindergartners thru 9th graders attend camp from 9am-3pm, including lunch.
- Rising 10th thru 12th graders may apply as CITs (“counselors in training”) to assist with campers during the day and participate in teen activities after camp. This is a terrific way to earn volunteer or community service hours, which are often required for graduation at many high schools.
- An example of our Camp schedule is available in PDF format.
Parent Sessions are scheduled each day during camp in either the morning or afternoon.
- More information on specific topics and times will be available as we get closer to camp. Typically we have at least one Parent session per day, sometimes more. This is particularly popular with out of town parents. Examples from past years have included discussions with adult adoptees, Korean cooking classes, field trips to a local Korean market, book reviews or author sessions, and presentations on Homeland tours.
Evening Activities are scheduled family activities each evening, 6-8pm.
- On Wednesday night we gather at Korean restaurants for our traditional “1st night” dinner.
- Thursday and Friday night we have family outings. Specific activities vary each year, but in the past have included bowling, roller skating, a pool party, and baseball games. Sign-up & additional information on the evening activities will be available at sign-in on the first day of camp.
Saturday – This is the day of our Family Celebration! (10am-2pm)
- Everyone is invited: kids, family, extended family, alumni, parents-to-be, grandparents.
- We will have demonstrations, games, our annual meeting, and then wrap up camp with our wonderful family celebration banquet!! We encourage you to invite extended family members so they can see what camp is all about and share a delicious Korean meal. We’re always excited to meet grandparents, aunts and uncles!
- Campers and parents are free. Guests are asked to make a donation to cover the cost of the meal (via the registration form).
- The cost of Saturday’s Lunch is included in the camp fee for both campers and their parents.
- Additional guests are welcome – this is a great time to invite uncles, aunts, & grandparents to join us. We ask for an additional fee per guest, and set a maximum fee per extended family/friends, children under 4 are free.
Counselors in Training (CIT’s):
Rising 10th through 12th graders are invited to serve as “CIT’s” (Counselors in Training”), to assist with camp during the day and then participate in teen activities after camp. This is a great way to earn community volunteer credit!!!
